I Love Jakarta

Uh.. I like this city. Everyday i’m inspired. There I look many people “running and running” so you must run too.

We call Jakarta because it name took from the name of Prince who had been in command in here. He is Pangeran Jayakarta. Yes, Ja (ya) karta. Now, it has been centre of trading in our country. It is capital of Indonesia. The more we look many people running and running, the more i love Jakarta.

In recent month Jakarta was drilled by terrorist. I feel sad. Our city was going unsecure. But i thankful because police works extraordinary to make it peaceful anymore.

Uh, I love Jakarta.

Investment in Gold

There are various investment instruments, but we can break them down into two kind: financial and fixed asset. The significant difference between the two kind of investment instrument is on their physical embodiment.

Financial investment has no physical embodiment. It’s just pieces of paper, but valuable. Bond and stock include in it. Fixed asset investment has real physic, where its value sticks to it, like land, house, and gold.

Today, investment in gold is being more excited. To answer “why”, we must consider its characteristic.

Gold:
1. Increasing of supplies is smaller than the demand.
We know, gold mining produces gold in almost same number every year. But demand of it (ring, necklace, even manufacturing need) rises over year. Thus, gold price potentially rises over time.

2. Anti-inflation
Gold is unique. When aggregate price rises 20%, gold price rises more than 20%. Even, if aggregate price rises 100%, gold price rises upto 200%. Gold price “jumps” when economic situations worsen. But its price is relatively stable on deflation situation.

Recently, global economic goes worst and US Dollar becomes weak. Inflation rises and BI rate is going to descend. It’s like signal for us to consider gold in our investment portfolio.(Ad)

RI Currency Swap Agreement

In current situation, where global economic free falls time to time, currency swap agreement is an effective policy. It is like buffer of negative influence from US Dollar fluctuation.

“Indonesia may forge more bilateral currency swap agreements with other countries to help bolster confidence and ease the volatility of the rupiah against the US dollar,” the central bank said Tuesday (The Jakarta Post, Wed, 03/25/2009). Moreover, Boediono said that Indonesia is open (for swap arrangements) with other nations.

Currency swap agreement, at least, gives us two benefits. First, traders can avoid double currency exchange cost; importers just simply convert their currency straight to exporters’ currency without US Dollar intermediary. It will make our interstate trading more efficient.

Other benefit fits into reduction of our US Dollar demand. Because we can skip exchange to US Dollar, our demand to US Dollar will be decrease. Rupiah is expected going strength as the effect: the decrease will be a boost for Rupiah.(Ad)
